Bring your woodworking ideas to life with SketchUp Methods — a hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop that introduces you to digital design using SketchUp, one of the most accessible 3D modelling tools for makers.

Led by Taylor, this session is perfect for anyone new to SketchUp or looking to transition from sketchbook to screen. You'll learn how to navigate the interface with confidence, use the core drawing and editing tools, and model a simple furniture piece from start to finish.

You’ll explore:

  • Navigating the SketchUp workspace

  • Drawing and editing in 2D and 3D

  • Creating groups and components for easy editing

  • Using layers and scenes to organize your design

  • Tips for precision modelling and avoiding common mistakes

This is a 4 hour workshop, including a tea break. Please bring your own laptop (with SketchUp installed if using the paid plans or make sure you've signed up for the free version) and a mouse — we’ll supply the Wi-Fi, tea, coffee, and light refreshments.

Basic computer competency is required to have success in this workshop. No previous 3d modelling experience is required.

To participate in this workshop you must be at least 18 years of age
