This course was really terrific. I felt that I learnt something new every session, and was also able to refine skills over the 8 weeks, so that by the final class there were several different types of machines and hand tools I felt comfortable using without much anxiety. Taylor is a great instructor. He's relaxed and friendly, with a wonderful sense of humour that kept us laughing every session - but he's also a really skilled teacher who is good at picking up when people are uncertain and helping them with a bit of extra knowledge and guidance. I highly recommend the class to anyone wanting to learn fundamental woodworking skills, as well as people looking to refine (e.g., if they're self-taught like I was). Great stuff.

The Adelaide School of Woodwork is a great place to start exploring this craft. My partner and I attended the workshop "Come and Try Woodwork" in June 23 and we both had a lovely time. There were a couple of instructors in our Saturday morning class, Taylor and a lovely lady (I am very sorry I forgot your name). They were both kind, patient and very good at explaining the steps. There were 4 people in the class which allowed plenty of time for questions. I was slightly concerned before attending as I had zero knowledge of woodwork and I was skeptical I was going to be able to construct something worthwhile, but I made it... Under both instructors' guidance, of course. The session went for 3hrs - 9.30am to 12.30pm. Tip 1: consider the design of your cheese board before attending the workshop. It helps if you have an idea of what you want, but if not, there are templates you can use. Tip 2: The school provides safety gear, such as eye and hearing protection, but if you wish to wear a mask and/or gloves maybe take your own.I strongly recommend this place. Thank you!!

Recently did the workbench making course and had the best time. Ended up with a beautiful, functional workbench to take home. Taylor is an excellent teacher with a nice relaxed style. Learnt so much and can't wait to do more courses.

The class was instructive and enjoyable. A good way to begin or enhance your woodworking skills and immensely satisfying to see a project completed. Taylor combines expertise with humour and patience.

Small group of four which was great for questions and information, supervised at all time, it was a great introduction to wood work, making a small simple project was a great experience.Highly recommend.

Fun, beginner friendly and you get to go home with a cutting board of your design!

I completed this course having previously done the introduction/intermediate class in which we made a tea box. Although we used many of the same skills, I definitely felt that we expanded on what we'd learnt, and I took something new from every class. I think the most important thing for me was that I left with the confidence that I could replicate a lot of these skills in my own workshop - although I'm absolutely delighted with the cabinet itself. Highly recommended.

I have been doing open classes and workshops with Taylor for well over 12 months.

I have learnt heaps, had a lot of fun and plan to continue.

Taylor makes it easy to understand and has no judgement on your work or what you want to build.

Other places make you feel inferior to learn or to ask those "stupid
questions" but Taylor has been nothing but supportive and open.

If you want to learn this is the place to be!

I really enjoyed the cabinet making course. I learned a bunch of new skills and had lots of laughs while doing it. I was really impressed with the quality of the final product and this was very much down to Tyler's teaching and close supervision. I appreciated his willingness to give advice on our home projects and especially his skill in being able to fix mistakes. That was my biggest take away... most things can be fixed.

I loved this course to bits. 8 weeks wasn't long enough, I could have kept on going and so missed not going when the course ended. The small group sizes was great. Felt as if I learnt so much and very thankful for the tips and hints along the way. Taylor was EXCELLENT. I am very happy with the cabinet. Would definitely recommend it and I will look to do another course. Thank you Taylor!!

If you’re thinking about getting into woodwork I could not recommend this school enough!I came in as an absolute beginner with no previous experience in woodwork or using power tools (now I can name 50 saws), and have definitely
found myself a new hobbie =)

There are a bunch of structured classes you can join or you can work on your own custom project in the open classes where Taylor guides you through the design and fab, and provides good ideas, helpful tips, and a few laughs along the way.

I did the cabinet short course first which introduced hand and machine techniques, and I was surprised despite my limited experience it all came out really well! The workshops were very well run in teaching safe use of tools and proper techniques and the guys were very helpful and happy to answer unlimited questions (no matter how silly).

I then joined the open classes to start my first project and I’m stoked with how much I’ve learned. I’ve definitely been inspired after seeing the various projects that others are working on and Taylor really goes above and beyond to help these visions come to life.

Thank you Taylor and Dom for all your help, it’s been a very enjoyable intro and experience =)

Very informative would recommend to anyone who wants to get started with a router

Thanks Taylor, just what I needed to get some router things happening. Really enjoyed it.

Did the Intro to Routing workshop - great value. Really hands-on, in a unique opportunity to try several different machines and techniques. Taylor has a truck-load of experience and good ideas, and the rest of the group contributed as well. Could not recommend this more strongly to anyone new to, or even moderately experienced in, using a router.

It's good chance for my child to taste woodwork. The tutor is so caring and encouraging.

My son had a great time - was so excited to be able to use a variety of tools. The activity was age appropriate and set up so he could complete it safely and with minimal assistance, which he loved. All instructions were clear and easy to follow, given with a smile. Whenever my son wasn’t sure what to do, help was provided. We will definitely be coming back!

Wonderful session as always. Plenty of opportunity to try out new skills.

My 12yr old son loved building his milk stool by hand. Before finishing he asked "can I do another course". Great explanation through out and helpful tips.
